Aleda is a one-act chamber opera in three scenes commissioned and produced by Musicians of Ma’alwyck, Ann-Marie Barker Schwartz, Director, with music and libretto written by Max Caplan. The opera depicts the true story of a courageous female pilot during the women's suffrage movement. Attend a free lecture and preview to learn how this landmark opera was created and meet the cast and technical team, hosted by Union College Dept of Music. Composer Max Caplan (UC '16), the cast, plus a few instrumentalists and the production team, will present a 50-minute presentation with scenes from the opera and a discussion of the “birth” of the piece and the true story of the event that inspired it.
