Suite of Love

Schenectady County Community College, Carl Taylor Auditorium, Schenectady, NY

Tickets from Feb 12th performance good for rescheduled Feb 19th.  Sunday, Feb. 19th, 3pm @ Schenectady County Community College Tickets: $25 for adults, $10 for students Love lurks behind many a musical inspiration, which has inspired the Musicians of Ma’alwyck to put together a program celebrating the music, movement, and poetry of that grand, elusive feeling. Love-music somber and love-music sweet are the heart of the Valentine’s Day concert “Suite of Love,” which weaves poetry and dance into a garland of musical selections written by Bach, Schumann, Mozart, and others. Barrios La Catedral for solo guitar; songs by Robert Schumann and Henry Purcell will be offered alongside the Suite Espagnole for violin and guitar by Joaquin Nin-Culmell – whose sister, Anaïs Nin, penned fervent erotica – and “Blue Third Pieces” by Libby Larsen.  Musicians of Ma’alwyck members Ann-Marie Barker Schwartz, violin; Sten Isachsen, guitar; and Norman Thibodeau, flute; are joined by soprano Tess McCarthy. Beth Fecteau is creating dance pieces for her company, Nacre, to both the words and music; the text, much of it inspired by the writings of the composers themselves, is being written by the eternally love stricken wordsmith Byron Nilsson; the words will be realized by actors from Creative License. Reception to follow SCCC performance.  Top the evening off with dinner at the new and highly acclaimed Glass Tavern in Glenville and get a 10% discount with your ticket stub!  Reservations for dinner recommended.
